Joint Chief's Challenge Coin Design

Lieutenant General B.J. Shwedo

Creating this challenge coin for Lieutenant General B.J. Shwedo was a distinguished honor for our team. We wanted to ensure the design embodied the excellence and leadership he represents. The coin is dual-plated in silver and gold, with the center featuring a raised gold Joint Chiefs logo on a sleek, shiny black background. Surrounding the logo is a bold, black outer ring with raised gold text that reads, "For Excellence, Presented by Lieutenant General B.J. Shwedo," framed by decorative accent stars to enhance its prestige.

On the reverse side, we showcased the iconic Air Force lieutenant general flag in blue with three white stars, along with two military emblems: the Air Force wings and the Intelligence Specialist badge with a master rating. These details highlight General Shwedo's deep connection to military intelligence and air power. Alongside these, we included the five emblems representing the original branches of the military, bordered by a gold decorative accent and black outer ring, with the text "Director for C-4/Cyber Chief Information Office," signifying his critical role in cyber and communications strategy.

This design is more than just a coin—it’s a tribute to excellence, leadership, and the unwavering commitment General Shwedo has shown throughout his career. Every element was carefully chosen to reflect the significance of his role and the deep respect he commands within the military and cyber communities. We're proud to have played a part in commemorating his legacy.

Mr. Thomas P. Michelli, SES.

On the reverse side, the coin showcases a striking blue center with a raised gold Senior Executive Service symbol, surrounded by the five original military emblems at the bottom. A clean white decorative border frames the design, leading to an outer silver ring with black text that reads, "Vice Director for C-4/Cyber, Deputy Chief Information Officer." To add a special touch, a thin purple accent border completes the coin, symbolizing the blend of tradition and innovation in Mr. Michelli's critical work. It’s a piece that honors his legacy and excellence in every detail.
